Psychotherapist
Dr. med. Ricarda Johanna Scheffczyk
While she was still studying human medicine, Dr. Scheffczyk’s interests were focussed on the fields of psychiatry and psychotherapy. After completing her studies, her work in internal medicine gave her a thorough grounding in physical medicine to help her in her work with patients with psychosomatic conditions.
She completed her training as a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy at the Auguste-Viktoria Hospital in Berlin. While there, she worked not only with acute psychiatric patients in the day clinic and the outpatient clinic at the institute, she was also engaged in long-term psychotherapy. She provided crisis interventional support for patients with neurological disease to enable them to accept their own disease and open new prospects for their futures.
After accreditation as a specialist, Dr. Scheffczyk started a practice as a medically trained psychotherapist. Her work is based on a depth psychology approach to psychotherapy. Furthermore, Dr. Scheffczyk places importance on including constructive behavioural therapy approaches. For people whose problems are predominantly interpersonal in nature, she utilises elements of treatment based on systemic therapy in her approach. In conjunction with the Praxis für Fertilität, one focus of her work is counselling and therapy for people unable to have children. In addition to the standard range of therapy offered, patients also have the option to schedule individual counselling sessions (for example, in acute crisis situations).
